For the past two weeks the students in Ms. DiMarco’s class at the Y.A.L.E. School Medford campus have been learning about poetry. Each day the students learned about a new type of poem and then created their own. They learned about: Haiku, Diamante, Acrostic, Autobiographical, Cinquain and Limerick poems. To wrap up the unit on poetry students got to put together their own poetry book featuring their poems. Students were able to design the cover for their book to feature the topics they wrote about.
On Friday 6/19 students participated in a Poetry Jam. Each student was able to share 3 or more of their poems with the class. After each poem snapping could be heard amongst the crowd marking appreciation for each student’s creativity.
