Mobility matters at Y.A.L.E. School

Driving SimulatorIn fall of 2015, expanded mobility training will begin for all students at the Cherry Hill campus. The new developmental mobility skills training and preparation initiatives will promote personal independence, increase community participation and expand employment possibilities for students as they progress towards college and careers. Some of the key aspects of this new programming will include:

  • Pedestrian Safety and Awareness for elementary and middle middle school students
  • Community Walking Course for high school students
  • “Learn To Bike” Physical Education opportunities (all ages)
  • Public Transportation training in the community
  • Introduction to NJ Access Link
  • Written Driver’s Test preparation

Perhaps most excitingly, high school students will have the opportunity to participate in a new Pre-Driver Competency training program which will feature a state-of-the-art driving simulator, a library of virtual driving scenarios, and a progressive curriculum designed by a driving rehabilitation specialist and occupational therapist(s).
