VIDEO: Standard 9 Transition Students Volunteer at Habitat for Humanity ReStore in Burlington County

Earlier this fall, Y.A.L.E. School Standard 9 transition students from Mr. Laux’s classroom began volunteering at the Habitat for Humanity ReStore in Cinnaminson, NJ. The ReStore is run by the Burlington County affiliate of Habitat for Humanity® and offers donated home furnishings, fixtures, building materials & supplies, and other household items at sharp discounts.

The ReStore is staffed entirely by volunteers and helps keep tons of materials out of landfills while providing volunteer opportunites for people in the community. We made this video to illustrate our students giving back to the local community at one of the many sites where volunteering and service-learning combine with career preparation as part of our transition curriculum.

Special thanks to Lori Leonard, Caroline Malia and everyone at Habitat for Humanity BCNJ for helping to make this video! We hope that even more students will be able to volunteer next year when the ReStore moves to its new home on Route 38 in Maple Shade, closer to the Y.A.L.E. School Cherry Hill campus.
