Robotics club rolling into second year at Cherry Hill campus

The Cherry Hill campus Robotics Club rolls into its second year this fall under the guidance of a new staff advisor and with the help of Moorestown Friends School. Club members meet weekly to plan and build robots using LEGO Mindstorms NXT kits. The robots must be designed to carry out a task or movement pattern designated by the rules of the New Jersey FIRST Robotics Competition. The competitions feature challenges with names like “Bowled Over,” “Ramp Riot,” and “Duel on the Delaware.” This year nine students are participating on the team, and their first training day will occur on October 15th. After that, there will be two practice days and three scrimmages with teams from other schools before the NJ FIRST Tech Challenge Qualifiers. The Y.A.L.E. team is being mentored by the robotics team from Moorestown Friends, who have kindly offered to build test course for our team’s robots.
